For the first time seven specialised groups met to discuss the following topics: Scientific Research, Pediatrics, Lithiasias, Urodynamics, Tuberculosis and Intra-renal surgery.
The activities of the EORTC 1978 marked the first time a technical exhibition was held jointly with the congress.
A decision was taken to open the EAU to all European urologists who wished to become a member.
